Omar Lost his Leg in a Bombing

Bookkept under Hidden Humanity

Omar is in dire need of $5000 to help him with his immediate

Omar has lost his leg but he is still the sole provider for his family including his disabled father. Omar also still owes the money he borrowed to pay for the surgery done on his leg. The family is in urgent need for basic supplies.

Your donations will go towards:

  • Pay off debts for the surgery
  • Basic living necessities for 1 year

The February 2023 earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria came on top of a more than 10-year civil war in Syria, which has destabilized the region for years. According to UN reports, the country is suffering from a humanitarian emergency. Omar and his family are an example of this humanitarian crisis.

Omar is 27 years old, and worked for the Red Crescent until a bombing left him with a severe injury to his leg. Despite undergoing surgery, Omar lost his leg and his family was forced to take on a significant amount of debt to pay for the procedure. As a father of two, Omar's responsibilities extend beyond just himself. Omar’s father is also heavily dependent on him after losing both legs due to diabetes and suffering paralysis on one side of his body after a stroke. Unable to control his bowels, Omar’s father is also dependent on diapers. Omar finds himself unemployed, living in poverty, in debt, but still responsible for supporting all the needs of his father and his own family.

Omar is in dire need of $5000 to help him with his immediate needs. The funds will be used to pay the debts of his surgery, as well as some of his basic needs such as monthly food supplies, hygiene products, and diapers for his father for a year. These necessities are critical for their day-to-day survival and will ease Omar’s intense pressure to provide for his family.
