Every year, lives are tragically lost in the fast-moving waters of the Panjshir River. Strong currents, sudden changes in water levels, and limited access to trained rescue personnel place local residents and visitors at serious risk.
Hidden Humanity is launching the Panjshir River Rescue Project to help prevent these avoidable deaths and establish a dedicated local rescue presence along the river.
Through this project, Hidden Humanity will employ and equip six trained lifeguards for a period of three months. The lifeguards will be stationed in key areas along the Panjshir River, where they will monitor the water, respond to emergencies, assist individuals in danger, and promote greater awareness of river safety.
The project has been officially approved by the local municipality and has received the support and blessing of local elders. Their involvement will help ensure that the rescue team is trusted, accessible, and positioned where it is most needed.
